The purpose of art is to inform, sell, and or entertain

Is the purpose of art to inform, sell or entertain? In my opininon, the purpose of art is to inform and entertain. It just happens to be sold. Selling art is a form of trafficing the individual artists thoughts, opinions, ideas and or talents. The act of selling art can be benifical when done correctally. However, selling art initself is not what makes somthing artistic. Art in itself has many aspects and diverse elements. Art comes in many forms; music, liturature, painting, sculpture, and many more. The different forms of art are all used differentally to inform or illustrate ideas. When art becomes commercial it tends to promote the ideas of others rather than the artist. Commercail art still entertains and or informs, is just tends to lose its meaning.
